Apples and Oranges?

How many Africans are equal to one Caucasian?
How many Asians are equal to one African?

What a strange question huh?

Is it though?

In Africa, in Congo and in Sudan,
six million people have been murdered in the past three to four years.
Six million Jews were murdered during World War II in concentration camps by horrific methods.
I've heard people say - "Never again"!
Really? Never is now! Are six million Africans less important than six million Jews?
Millions upon millions of dollars were sent to Asia for relief from the Tsunami that destroyed
millions of homes, and killed nearly a quarter of a million people. During this same time, there was no
world wide outpouring of aid to Africa! Many people don't even know this genocide has occurred.
Muslim forces routinely force people into buildings which are then bulldozed into the ground, or
lit on fire and the people are burned to death. Many Christians in the south are captured and sold
into slavery to Muslims in the north. Where is the outrage at these atrocities?

I watched as the news channels in this country hyped the tension as we all sat on pins and needles
to see if a member of a boy band had actually broken his wrist or merely sprained it.
Did Brittany Spears get married again?
Did Opra gain more weight?

How amazing and how arrogant can we be as a country, to let millions of people be murdered
at this moment, during our lifetimes, without even writing a letter to the people we voted into
office and demand that this genocide stop NOW!

How arrogant and uncaring can we be as a Church?

Our little church is not the CHURCH!

All Christians, no matter where they live, or the color of their skin, make up
THE CHURCH!

We are more concerned with Janet Jackson's nipple, than entire generations of possibly related
people being murdered!
It's not their religion because many of them are (or were) Christians.
It's not because they were old because many were children.
It's not because we disliked them because they never did anything to us.

So why would we be willing to let these millions of people be murdered, yet we respond
so fervently to a disaster in Asia?

I believe that it is a combination of racism and apathy.
It didn't happen to us, so we just don't care.

Matthew 24:4-14
Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

When WE ae captured, murdered, tortured, when WE are put to death
are WE going to complain that nobody did anything?
WE are the somebody to do something.
We haven't, we aren't, but we must start!

We will not only be judged in this life for what we DO and DON'T do,
but we will also be judged in the next!

Matthew 25:31-46

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him,
he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory.
All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people
one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by
my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the
creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and
you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and
you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and
feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you
a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we
see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth,

whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine,
you did for me.’

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed,
into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry
and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to
drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and
you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a
stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

“He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth,
whatever you did not do for one of the least of these,
you did not do for me.’

“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
