Jesus IS Lord!
Luke 4:14-32 Young’s Literal
Translation of the
Bible
And
Jesus turned back in the
power of the Spirit to
all the region round about concerning him, and he was
teaching in their synagogues, being
glorified by all. And he came to Nazareth,
where he hath been brought up, and he went in,
according to his custom, on the
sabbath-day, to the synagogue, and stood up to read;
and
there was given over to him a roll of Isaiah
the prophet, and having unfolded the roll, he found
the place where it hath
been written: ‘The Spirit of the Lord is
upon me, Because He did anoint
me; To proclaim good news to the poor, Sent me
to heal the broken of heart, To proclaim to
captives deliverance, And to blind
receiving of sight, To send away the bruised with deliverance,
To proclaim the
acceptable year of the Lord.’ And having folded the roll, having given
it
back
to the officer, he sat down, and the
eyes of all in the synagogue were gazing on him. And he
began to say
unto them—‘To-day hath this writing been
fulfilled in your ears;’ and all
were
bearing testimony to him, and were wondering at the gracious
words that are coming forth
out of his
mouth, and they said, ‘Is not this the son of Joseph?’ And
he
said unto them, ‘Certainly
ye will say to me this simile, Physician, heal thyself; as great things
as we heard done in
Capernaum, do also here in thy country;’ and he said, ‘Verily I say to
you—No
prophet is
accepted in his own country; and of a truth I say to you, Many
widows were in the days of
Elijah, in Israel, when the heaven was shut for
three years and six months, when great famine
came on all the land, and unto
none of them was Elijah sent, but—to Sarepta of Sidon, unto a
woman, a widow;
and many lepers were in the time of Elisha the prophet, in Israel, and
none
of
them was cleansed, but—Naaman the Syrian.’
And all in the
synagogue
were filled with wrath, hearing these things, and having risen,
they put him forth without the city, and
brought him unto the brow of the hill on which their
city had been built—to
cast him down headlong, and he, having gone through the midst of
them,
went away. And he came down to
on the sabbaths, and they
were astonished at his teaching, because his word was with authority.
This statement
sums up all of Christianity. Jesus is Lord.
What is our reaction when
we hear this phrase?
IS Jesus Lord?
Is
Jesus OUR Lord?
Is Jesus Lord of the universe?
In the first century,
Christians were routinely paraded in front of
Caesar and asked this question, “Who is Lord?” Those answering that
“Jesus is
Lord”, were killed, but those that answered, “Caesar is Lord” were
spared. But
were they?
Matthew
10:32-39‘Every one,
therefore, who shall confess in me before men, I also will confess
in him
before my Father who is in the heavens; and whoever shall deny me
before men, I
also will
deny him before my Father who is in the heavens. ‘Ye may not
suppose that I came to put peace on
the earth; I did not come to put peace,
but a sword; for I came to set a man at variance against his
father, and a
daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her
mother-in-law,
and the
enemies of a man are those of his household. ‘He who is loving father
or mother above me, is not
worthy of me, and he who is loving son or daughter
above me, is not worthy of me, and whoever
doth not receive his cross and follow after me, is not worthy of me.
‘He who found his life shall lose
it, and
he who lost his life for my sake shall find it.
Confessing that Jesus is
Lord, truly the Lord of your life, can not
happen without the Holy
Spirit. “Jesus is Lord”,
is the earliest “confession of faith” of
the Christian Church.
Those confessing that
Jesus is Lord, are written in the Lamb’s
Scroll of Life!
“Jesus is Lord”, is going
to be the last confession of faith also.
This is the very last statement that will leave many of our lips.
Romans
8:1-18 There is, then, now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus,
who walk
not according
to the flesh, but according to the Spirit; 2for the
law of the Spirit of the life in Christ Jesus did set me
free from the law of
the sin and of the death; 3for what the law was not able to
do, in
that it was weak
through the flesh, God, His own Son having sent in the likeness
of sinful flesh, and for sin, did condemn
the sin in the flesh, 4that
the righteousness of the law may be fulfilled in us, who do not walk
according
to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
5For those
who are
according to the flesh, the things of the flesh do mind; and those
according to
the
Spirit, the things of the Spirit; 6for the mind of the
flesh is
death, and the mind of the Spirit—life and
peace; 7because the mind
of the flesh is enmity to God, for to the law of God it doth
not subject
itself,
8for neither is it able; and those who are in the flesh are
not able to please God.
9And ye are
not in the
flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God doth dwell in
you; and if
any
one hath not the Spirit of Christ—this one is not His; 10and
if
Christ is in you, the body, indeed, is dead
because of sin, and
the Spirit is life because of righteousness, 11and
if the
Spirit of Him who did raise up
Jesus out of the dead doth dwell in you, He who
did raise up the Christ out of the dead shall quicken
also your dying bodies,
through His Spirit dwelling in you.
12So, then,
brethren, we
are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh; 13for
if
according to the flesh ye do live, ye are about to die; and if, by the
Spirit, the deeds of the body ye
put to death, ye shall live; 14for
as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God;
15for
ye did not receive a spirit of bondage again for fear, but ye did
receive a
spirit of adoption in
which we cry, ‘Abba—Father.’
16The
Spirit himself
doth testify with our spirit, that we are children of God; 17and
if
children, also
heirs, heirs, indeed,
of God, and heirs together of Christ—if, indeed, we suffer together,
that we
may
also be glorified together.
18For
I reckon that the sufferings of the present time are not worthy
to be
compared with the glory
about to be revealed in us;

1 John 4: 1-6 Beloved, every
spirit believe not, but prove the spirits, if of God they are, because
many
false prophets have gone forth to the world; 2in this
know ye the Spirit of God; every spirit that doth
confess
Jesus Christ in the flesh having come, of God it is, 3and
every spirit that doth not confess
Jesus Christ in the flesh having come, of God it is not; and this is
that of
the antichrist, which ye heard
that it doth come, and now in the world it is
already.
4Ye—of God
ye are,
little children, and ye have overcome them; because greater is He who is
in you,
than he who is in the world. 5They—of the world they are;
because of this from the world they speak,
and the world doth hear them; 6we—of
God we are; he who is knowing God doth hear us; he who is
not of God, doth not
hear us; from this we know the spirit of the truth, and the spirit of
the
error.

Revelation 13:1And I stood
upon the sand of the sea, and I saw out of the sea a beast coming up,
having
seven heads and ten horns, and upon its horns ten diadems, and upon its
heads a
name of evil speaking,
2and the beast that I saw was like to a
leopard, and its feet as of a bear, and its mouth as the mouth of a
lion, and
the dragon did give to it his power, and his throne, and great
authority. 3And
I saw one of its
heads as slain to death, and its deadly stroke was healed, and
all the earth did wonder after the beast,
4and they did bow before the dragon who did give
authority to the beast,
and they did bow before the
beast, saying, ‘Who is like to the beast?
who is able to war with it?’
5And there
was given to
it a mouth speaking great things, and evil-speakings, and there was
given to
it
authority to make war forty-two months, 6and it did open
its mouth
for evil-speaking toward God, to
speak evil of His name, and of His tabernacle,
and of those who in the heaven tabernacle, 7and there
was
given to it to make war with the saints, and to
overcome them, and there was given to it authority over
every tribe, and tongue,
and nation.
8And bow
before it shall all who are dwelling
upon the land, whose names have not been written in the
scroll of the life of
the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world; 9if
any one
hath an ear—let him hear:
10if any one a captivity doth gather, into
captivity he doth go away; if any one by sword doth kill, it
behoveth him by
sword to be killed; here is the endurance and the faith of the saints.
11And I saw
another
beast coming up out of the land, and it had two horns, like a lamb, and
it was
speaking as a dragon, 12and all the authority of the first
beast
doth it do before it, and it maketh the land
and those dwelling in it that they
shall bow before the first beast, whose deadly stroke was healed,
13and
it doth great signs, that fire also it may make to come down from the
heaven to
the earth before men,
14and it leadeth astray those dwelling on the
land, because of the signs that were given it to do before the
beast, saying to
those dwelling upon the land to make an image to the beast that hath
the stroke
of the
sword and did live, 15and there was given to it to give a
spirit to the image of the beast, that also the
image of the beast may speak,
and that it may cause as many as shall not bow before the image
of the
beast, that they may be killed.
16And it
maketh all, the
small, and the great, and the rich, and the poor, and the freemen, and
the
servants, that it may give to them a mark upon their right hand or upon
their
foreheads, 17and that no one
may be able to buy, or to sell, except
he who is having the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number
of his name.
18Here is
the wisdom! He who is having the understanding, let
him count the number of the beast, for the
number of a man it is, and its
number is six hundred and sixty six.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Revelation 14:9And a third
messenger did follow them, saying in a great voice, ‘If any one the
beast
doth
bow before, and his image, and doth receive a mark upon his forehead,
or upon
his hand,
10he also shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God,
that hath been mingled unmixed in the cup of
His anger, and he shall be
tormented in fire and brimstone before the holy messengers, and before
the
Lamb, 11and the smoke of their torment doth go up to ages
of ages;
and they have no rest day and
night, who are bowing before the beast and his
image, also if any doth receive the mark of his name.
12Here is
endurance of the saints: here are those keeping the commands of
God, and
the faith of Jesus.’
The very action of
confessing Jesus is Lord, is an action of
battle. Satan demands that you confess that
he is lord, and Jesus demands that
you confess that He is Lord. There is NO fence to sit on here.
The action Satan
takes, as the antichrist, of separating the world into two different
groups is
insulting
to God, because this imitates an action only God can take.
We will have a choice, and we now have a
choice. IS Jesus Lord?
Absolutely!
